8kCanvas is the permanent successor to two famous internet experiments: the Million Dollar Homepage and Reddit's r/place.

2005: the Million Dollar Homepage

A 21 year old student sold one million pixels for one dollar each to pay for university. The page filled up with tiny ads, made exactly one million dollars, and then froze in time. It still exists, a snapshot of the internet of 2005, and it proved something odd and wonderful: people will pay real money for a permanent little place in internet history.

2017 to 2023: r/place

Reddit's r/place let millions of people paint one shared canvas, one pixel at a time. Communities fought for space, flags rose and fell, and astonishing collaborative art appeared. But every r/place ended after a few days, and every pixel could be painted over at any moment. Nothing you made was ever yours, and nothing survived.

Now: 8kCanvas

8kCanvas takes the best of both. One single shared canvas in 8K resolution, 7680 by 4320, over 33 million pixels. You can buy pixels directly for one dollar each, or create pixel art in the builder from five dollars.
